Favorite Scriptures

"Lift up your heart and rejoice, for the hour of your mission is come; and your tongue shall be loosed, and you shall declare glad tidings of great joy unto this generation."
 - D&C 31:3
Honestly, I love all of section 31.  It is one of my very favorite sections of scripture and almost every time I read it I get goose bumps.  And that is why I chose this scripture to be my mission scripture on my plaque.

"Behold, thy sins are forgiven thee, and thou art an elect lady, whom I have called."
 - D&C 25:3
I was introduced to this one by a dear friend currently serving his mission.  And I especially love reading this in conjunction with all of section 25, and any time that it says "Emma" I replace it with my name.  It makes this very personal and gives a lot of hope for my call to serve.

"Behold, ye are little children and ye cannot bear all things now; ye must grow in grace and in the knowledge of the truth.  Fear not, little children, for you are mine, and I have overcome the world, and you are of them that my Father hath given me; And none of them that my Father hath given me shall be lost."
 - D&C 50:40-42
This was shown to me by my best friend in one of the hardest, darkest points of my life.  She explained how this had brought her peace and comfort when she felt alone, as I did.  So every time I feel alone or confused, this is my go-to scripture because this reminds me that I don't have to understand it all now and that my Father knows and remembers me and will NEVER forget or forsake me.

"O that I were an angel, and could have the wish of mine heart, that I might go forth and speak with the trump of God, with a voice to shake the earth, and cry repentance unto every people!"
 - Alma 29:1
I know most missionaries preparing to leave for their missions feel like this is a theme scripture and I know I feel the same way!  I wish I could go now and never stop, and guess what?  I don't have to stop and I can start being a missionary now!  I won't have the name badge but member missionary work is just as important as full-time service.  This also has special meaning to me because there is a song "O That I Were an Angel" based upon this scripture and my institute choir sang this the last semester I sang with them.

And there are still more to come!  So keep a look out!  And if you have a favorite scripture that hasn't been listed, please comment with at least the scripture reference and an explanation as to why it's your favorite and I will add it to the list.  :)
